Live and Kickin', the first under Musical Director Peter Lipari, is a collection of pieces from two of our concerts in March and May 2003. The CD was released in December 2003.
Live and Kickin' features one of the most outstanding British trombone
players, Brett Baker, who was featured at our March 2003 concert. Along
with 'Over the Rainbow' and 'Teddy Trombone', Mr. Baker played the World
Premier of a new piece by Robin Dewhurst entitled 'Homelands'.
The album contains marches by the American composer J.J. Richards and a
march by the well know British composer William Rimmer. Also on the CD are
two of the very best pieces in the brass band repertoire: 'Resurgam' by
Eric Ball and 'Harmony Music' by Philip Sparke. The Broadway musical
'Hello Dolly' is also represented on the CD.
Recorded and mastered by Ron Rolland, Fine Audio Recording/Mastering,
Chicago Illinois.
Shakin' ... Not Stirred
 |
The inspiration for this 2000 recording came about largely as a result of playing Philip Wilby's stunning Jazz: Symphonic Dances for Brass Band as the band's own choice material at the 1998 NABBA Competition in Lexington, KY. In addition to the live NABBA performance, this CD contains lighter jazz selections from American popular repertoire. |
